ASL Dictionary of Religious Signs
- Angel
- Sign:

"Angel"
- Angel
- Synonyms:
- Angelic, Cherub, Seraph, Heavenly Host
- Hand Shape:
- "5" or open "B".
- Motion:
- Touch fingers to shoulders. Then sweep hands out away from the body and flutter hands up and down like the motion of wings.
- Note(s):
- (Mnemonic Note) Connotes the wings traditionally attributed to angels.
- Variations:
- As you flutter your hands you may move them outward away from the body slightly. Also, when speaking specifically about Cherubim or Seraphim, some people initialize the sign with a "C" or "S" during the beginning hand position (they initialize both hands when touching the shoulders. The hand shape for the fluttering motion is the same as above).
