Frequently Asked Questions

1) I am trying to view the devotions, but I can only view a small part. It takes a long time to download the devotion. What is wrong?
Answer: Nothing is wrong. Devotion files are large and may take time, even up to 30 minutes, to download, especially if you have a dial-up connection.

2) The devotion is downloading, but when I play it I only see a white or black box, or I get a message telling me Quicktime does not have the necessary files to play this video. What should I do?
Answer: You need to update your version of Quicktime. Go to www.quicktime.com and download the latest version of Quicktime for your computer. Be sure your computer meets all the minimum system requirements before installing. On some computers you will need to run the installer as well. Simply downloading it may not always automatically install the program.

3) When I try to view the devotions, I see a gray box that says ?Click Here To Play Movie?, but when I click it, it doesn?t play. I have the latest version of Quicktime installed, so why won?t it even try to play?
Answer: Try a different web browser. Sometimes when you install Quicktime 7, third party browsers (Opera, Firefox, Mozilla, etc.) may not get the Quicktime Plugin installed properly. Try a different browser or close your current browser and reinstall Quicktime. Daily Devotions for the Deaf work best with Microsoft Internet Explorer on Windows and Safari on Mac OS 10.

4) When I try to view the devotions, I see a gray box that says ?Click Here To Play Movie?, but when I click it, all I see is the blue Quicktime symbol.
Answer: Be patient. Not all web browsers let you know they are downloading information. If you see the blue "Q", most likely your devotion is on it's way and you need to be patient with your computer's speed.

5) When I play the devotions, I see video, but it appears choppy or skips. Is there something wrong with the devotion video?
Answer: No, unfortunately your computer is just not able to handle playing the video. Make sure your computer fits the minimum requirements listed above. If it does meet the minimum requirements, then you need to free up system resources by closing other programs. If this doesn?t help, then you probably have spyware or viruses slowing it down, and this will cause the video to slow down. Contact a computer technician to solve this problem.

6) I'm still having problems. Now what do I do?
