Joseph Josselyn
Video Producer
Greetings in Christ. I am Joseph Josselyn. I am Deaf. I joined the Deaf Missions team as Video Producer in June, 2006. My key role is to produce creative video resources that Deaf (and hearing) can use to learn, share, and teach God's Word in American Sign Language. Also, I am involved with serving and ministry work.Let's "fast-rewind" to my childhood. (Baby crying.) I was born on October 5, 1974. At the age of two, I became deaf due to illness with spinal meningitis. My parents came to Jesus around the time I was born, and raised my brothers and me with God's love. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord at about the age of 10. I mainstreamed in hearing school with ASL interpreters until I went to high school. In 1993, I graduated from Model School for the Deaf in Washington, DC with wonderful experiences in theatre productions. I studied Television at Gallaudet, and produced several student video programs. I enjoyed fellowship with Campus Crusade for Christ. I graduated in 1997, and I continued to work for the Television department.
In 2000, I moved to San Diego to work for DawnSignPress as their Video Production Manager. I met my wonderful wife, Nicole, at a coffee house. We got married in June 2003. We were actively serving with Deaf Ministry at the Rock Church. I coordinated the "Jesus Christ 101" booth with other churches annually at Deaf Awareness Day in San Diego, sharing the Good News of Jesus to the Deaf community. In 2004, combining my passion for creating short movie clips and sharing the gospel, I created gospel clips shown at Deaf Awareness Day. They can be seen at www.tvartist.net.
Now, "fast-forward" to present-day, aboard with Deaf Missions. I look forward to producing more Christian video materials for the Deaf. It's exciting to share God's Word creatively and visually.
A side note about family life-- Nicole and I are in process of adopting two deaf children from Liberia. Their names are Joseph Prince and Hadassah Oretha. Nicole is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and has a small homebirth practice (www.exodushomebirth.com).
