Jose Abenchuchan

Bible Translation

Jose Abenchuchan began serving Deaf Missions as the Director of Bible Translation in September 2008. Prior to coming to Deaf Missions, he served the San Jose Church of Christ in Jacksonville, Florida, as minister to the deaf for six years. He also served as the deaf minister for Overland Park Church of Christ in Overland Park, Kansas, for five years.

Jose has been an ASL Bible Translator and On-Camera Presenter for Deaf Missions for many years. He has been working with a team doing analysis and translation of both Old and New Testament books, along with professional on-camera presentations in American Sign Language (ASL).

He has traveled extensively, doing mission work in Mexico, Ecuador, the Czech Republic, and Bulgaria. He has also consulted with Bible translation teams in Romania and Moldova.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Gallaudet University and a Master of Science in counseling from Western Maryland College. He attended the Sunset International Bible Institute in Lubbock, Texas, completing his Bible studies in Deaf Ministry. He and his wife, Kathleen, have six children. His main goal is to reach the deaf community with the message of God's love for the lost, bringing them to know Jesus Christ as Savior and equipping them to experience the presence of God's love in their lives and service.
