Daily Devotions from A-Z
Many people have asked, "What does it take to produce Daily Devotions for the Deaf?" Our answer: All of our full-time employees, hours of work, volunteers and a whole lot more!
We have been producing Daily Devotions for the Deaf for nearly 30 years, and here is how we do it today.
First, both deaf and hearing people write and submit devotions to Deaf Missions. Then, editor Jo Krueger selects specific devotions for each quarterly book. She edits them to make sure all of the Bible verses are printed correctly, the devotions are the right length, the English grammar is correct and much more. All of the devotions are also proofed by two other staff members.

- Artists draw pictures to illustrate each devotion.
Once we receive the devotion pictures back from our artists, they must be individually scanned in order to resize, modify and add them to the devotion text. Then the devotions must be laid out properly to make sure they will print correctly.
When all of these pieces are complete, more than 25,000 books are printed of each issue!
Once all the pages are printed, they must be assembled, stapled and trimmed to create a complete book. Then, the books must be tabbed to send through the mail, and addresses are printed on each one. Daily Devotions for the Deaf is sent all over the United States, and to more than 85 other countries! In order to make this mailing happen, hours of work are spent by our staff and donated by valuable volunteers.
But it doesn't stop there. We also produce a large print edition of the books, which requires extra computer formatting, printing and assembling. Another Christian ministry takes the Daily Devotions for the Deaf and recreates them in Braille for blind people. Several other countries also recreate the devotions in their own languages.
On top of all this, we also produce Daily Devotions for the Deaf in ASL. Each time we prepare the books, the devotions are collected and given to skilled signers. The signers translate the English text into ASL, and they sign the devotions while being filmed. The footage is then edited and prepared in two different formats: Quicktime for the internet and DVD.
After special preparation and uploading of videos, pictures and text to our website, anyone in the world can view the devotions for free! The DVD format is made available to purchase. This requires creation of video covers and labels, duplication, packaging and shipping.

- Each devotion is filmed, edited and produced in our studio.
