A Bronze Snake

After the Israelites left Mount Hor, they started to complain against God. They complained that they had no water and food. They also complained about the manna (special food) that God gave them each day.
Because of their complaining, God sent poisonous snakes among the people. These snakes bit many people, and some people died. Then the Israelites said they were sorry that they had complained. They asked Moses to pray for them. So Moses prayed to God and asked Him to take away the snakes. God told Moses to make a bronze snake and put it on a pole. Any person who had been bitten by a snake could look at the bronze snake. Then that person would not die.
Many years later Jesus said (John 3:14-15), “Moses lifted up the snake in the desert. It is the same with the Son of Man [Jesus]. The Son of Man must be lifted up too. Then every person that believes in the Son of Man can have life forever.” Jesus was talking about His death on the cross. Through His death, all people can be saved and live forever with Him.
Thank God today for His wonderful gift of salvation through Jesus.
