A Leader for God

Our Bible verses today tell us that God sent an angel to speak to Gideon. The angel told Gideon that God wanted him to lead the Israelites against the Midianite army. But Gideon was afraid to become a leader. He could not believe that God had chosen him to lead the Israelites.
But God told Gideon, “I will be with you, so you can defeat the Midianites as easily as if they were only one man” (verse 16). God did not choose Gideon because he was strong and brave. God chose him because He wanted the Israelites to see that only God’s power could save them from the Midianite army.
Maybe God wants you to be a leader for Him — to teach a Sunday School class or Bible study or to go on a mission trip. But you are afraid. Remember that God was with Gideon, and He will be with you, too.
Stay faithful to God today. He will help you and guide you as you serve Him.
