All the Same

When I was young, my mother and I made May baskets on May 1st to give to some friends. We decided to give a candy-filled basket to a woman who had just moved to our town from North Africa.
I bravely walked to the door and rang the doorbell. When she answered, I gave her the basket and tried to explain the custom of giving May baskets. But she did not understand English very well. She took the candy from the basket, gave me back the basket and shut the door. I ran back to the car in tears. That was my first experience with someone of a different culture.
When I think about living forever with other Christians, I don’t have to worry about other cultures and customs. Our Bible verses today tell us that as Christians, we are all the same in Jesus. It doesn’t matter if we are a man or a woman or if we live in India or Norway. We will all share in the blessings and glories of heaven. Praise God today for His wonderful gift of salvation!
