Alpha and Omega

Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet. Omega is the last letter. In Revelation 21:6b, Jesus said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.” In verse 13 of our Bible Reading today, Jesus repeats those same words.
These words show us Jesus’ authority. He came to earth to live as a man. When Jesus left earth, He said that God had given Him all authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18). Jesus is the first and last in authority and power.
When Jesus said that He was the Alpha and Omega, He was showing us that He is complete. Jesus is the total of all love, wisdom and creation. “All things were made through Christ and for Christ” (Colossians 1:16b).
Jesus’ words also show us that He is eternal. He created the world (John 1:1-3), and He will rule forever and ever. I hope that you know Jesus, the Alpha and Omega!
