Anger

I use telephone cards. I buy these cards at a local store. Each card has a certain amount of minutes of long-distance time. But sometimes I become angry when I use these cards. Why? Because I must dial many numbers to use the card. I become frustrated if I punch in one wrong number. Then I have to start all over again.
One time my sister-in-law had a stroke. I was upset about this. I wanted to call some relatives and tell them what happened. I tried to dial the right numbers, but I hit some wrong numbers and had to start again. I became angry that I could not make a long-distance call.
Then I remembered Proverbs 16:32, “It is better to be patient than to be a strong soldier. It is better to control your anger than to take control over the whole city.” I knew I needed to control my anger. I stopped and asked God to help me not be frustrated and angry.
Maybe you become angry very easily. Maybe you have a hard time controlling your temper. But with God’s help, you can be patient and calm.
