An anniversary is a time to remember a special event. Recently my husband and I celebrated our 62nd wedding anniversary. Our children had a party on that day.
Our Bible Reading tells us about the Lord’s Supper. This is a time when we can remember that Jesus died and then became alive. Verse 26 tells us, “Every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you make known the Lord’s death until he comes.”
When we eat the Lord’s Supper with other Christians, it is like celebrating an anniversary. The Lord’s Supper reminds us about Jesus’ terrible death. But it also reminds us that Jesus arose and overcame death.
Another thing that we remember when we take the Lord’s Supper, is that someday Jesus will come back and take His followers to live with Him forever. The Lord’s Supper reminds us of this promise.
The next time you eat the Lord’s Supper, think about these important things.
