Bells (5)

Many years ago, trains were pulled by steam locomotives. When the steam was released from the engine, it made a very loud noise. Steam locomotives also had large bells. The engineer would ring the bells to warn people that the train was coming.
But sometimes people ignored the warning of the bells. They thought they had time to cross over the tracks before the train came. Often these people made it safely across the tracks, but many times the train would crash into them.
This makes me think about our Bible Reading for today. Verse 22 says, “Do what God’s teaching says; don’t just listen and do nothing. Why? Because when you only sit and listen, you are fooling yourselves.” Reading the Bible or paying attention to a preacher is not enough. God wants us to do what He tells us to do.
People who ignored the train’s warning bells were hurt or killed. People who ignore God’s commands will not live forever with Him. Do what God wants you to do today!
