Bible Mysteries (6)

The mystery about Jesus and the church is mostly hidden in the Old Testament. But it is clearly shown in the New Testament. In our Bible Reading today, Paul makes a comparison. He compares the relationship of Jesus and the church to the relationship between Christian husbands and wives.
Verse 25 tells us that Jesus loved the church and “gave his life for it.” That is a great lesson for us! We, too, should love God’s church. Why? Because through Jesus’ death and the church we can have life and salvation.
We cannot be saved without the church. Verse 23 tells us that “Christ is the Savior of the church, which is his body.” We can only be saved if we are part of the body of Jesus.
The marriage relationship is a very special relationship on earth. But our relationship with Jesus is even more important. Both relationships are part of God’s plan for this life and for eternity.
