Today is my birthday. I won’t tell you how many birthdays I have celebrated, but I have had many birthdays! I am glad that I was born. And I am glad that I am the child of two wonderful Christian people. I like to celebrate the fact that I am their child.
But I think it is even more important to celebrate my spiritual birthday. That was the day when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. That day I became a child of God. Verse 1 of our Bible Reading says, “The people who believe that Jesus is the Christ are God’s children.”
When I was growing up, I had the same last name as my parents. I was proud to have their name. When I accepted Jesus as my Savior, I received Christ’s (Jesus’) name. I am a Christian. That name means I follow Jesus Christ.
I hope that you have accepted God’s gift of salvation through Jesus. If you are a Christian, you can celebrate your spiritual birthday every year. If you are not a Christian, I encourage you to learn how you can become God’s child.
