Books of Prophecy

The last 17 books of the Old Testament are books of prophecy. Sometimes these books are divided into two groups: Isaiah through Daniel are called the major prophet books, and Hosea through Malachi are called the minor prophet books.

The Old Testament books of prophecy include the words of many of God’s prophets. Our Bible verses for today remind us that these prophets taught God’s laws to His people, warned them about disobeying and told them that someday God would send His Son to die for all people. Often people treated the prophets very badly. But the prophets’ message never changed. Their message always was, “God hates sin. But God loves you and wants to save you.”

The Old Testament books of prophecy are very important for us today. The things the prophets told about came true in the New Testament. This shows us we can always depend on God and His message.
