Burning Bush

I live in an area with lots of trees and bushes. Sometimes I look up at the trees, and I am impressed with how tall and strong they are. There are many bushes, too, but I hardly ever notice them.

Our Bible Reading today tells us about a bush that was burning. God wanted Moses to do something that was difficult — leading the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. God wanted to get Moses’ attention so he would listen to Him. Did God use a tall tree or a mountain that was on fire? No! God used a small bush.

But it wasn’t the bush that was important. God’s message was important. Moses realized that God was speaking to Him and that he was standing on holy ground. Moses paid attention to God’s message and obeyed.

God speaks to us, too. He speaks to us through His Word, the Bible, and through other Christians. Be like Moses — pay attention to God and obey.
