Candy Cane (7)

This is our last devotion about candy canes. Imagine two candy canes on a table in front of you. Now imagine the bottom tips are touching and the short curved ends are also touching. What shape do the candy canes make? A heart! A heart is a symbol of love.
As we have talked about candy canes, we have learned about Jesus’ death on the cross. But why was God willing to have His only Son, Jesus, die? We can find that answer in John 3:16a. “Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son.”
In verse 1 of our Bible Reading, David mentioned God’s great loving kindness and mercy that removed his sins. Then in verse 10, David said, “God, create a pure heart in me! Make my spirit strong again!”
David knew that God would be merciful to him. Why? Because God loved him. God loves you, too. No matter what you have done in the past, God is willing to forgive your sins and accept you as His child.
When you see a candy cane this Christmas season, think about God’s wonderful love!
