Next week people around the world will celebrate Christmas. Today we will begin to look at some of the people and events of the Christmas story from the books of Matthew and Luke. Our topic each day will start with a letter from the word C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S.
Today’s word is Christ. Many years before Jesus was born, God’s prophets said that God would send a special person to save His people. This person was called “Messiah,” “the Anointed One” or “Christ.” Just at the right time, God sent His Son, Jesus, to be the Christ.
Our Bible Reading today tells us about wise men who came from the east so they could worship “the king of the Jews” (verse 2b). Verse 4 tells us that King Herod asked the Jewish priests and teachers where the Christ would be born.
The wise men traveled to Bethlehem to worship baby Jesus. Jesus was the Christ, the One promised by God. Thank God this Christmas season for His wonderful gift of salvation.
