Christian Soldier

One day I was preaching to a group of deaf people. I asked them if a deaf person could become a soldier. Some of the people laughed at my question. Others said it was possible for a deaf person to be a soldier. Then I told them it was possible for a deaf person to be a Christian soldier.
All Christians are soldiers who are fighting against the devil. We do not need guns, tanks or bombs. Ephesians 6:10-17 tells us that we need truth, right living, the Good News of peace, faith, salvation and God’s Word to defeat the devil. If you have those things, “on the day of evil you will be able to stand strong. And when you have finished the whole fight, you will still be standing” (Ephesians 6:13b).
A famous old hymn (song) begins with these words: “Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war.” In verse 3b of our Bible Reading today, Paul told Timothy to be “a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” I encourage you to become a strong soldier for Jesus, too.
