Christmas Bells

For many years, people have rung church bells at Christmas time. Bells symbolize telling the Good News about Jesus? birth.
During the Middle Ages, church bells slowly rang an hour before midnight on Christmas Eve. These bells were to warn the devil that Jesus would be born. Then at midnight, the bells rang happily. This continued every hour on Christmas Day. These bells called Christians to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Now people ring bells at Christmas to show their happiness. Why? Because Jesus, God?s Son, came to earth as a baby. Then later He took the punishment for our sins. This gift of salvation is free. Because of this gift, we can have our sins forgiven and live forever with God.
When you see a small bell hung on a Christmas tree or hear bells ringing in a church, think about the happiness that Jesus brought to the world. Then share this Good News with other people.
