Christmas Love

A young American soldier was shot down over Germany during World War II. He was put in a German prisoner of war camp.
The months went by and the soldier was ready to spend his second Christmas as a prisoner. The soldier had thought he would be home by Christmas. He was especially sad because Christmas Day was also his birthday.
All the prisoners hated the sergeant in charge of the camp. On Christmas morning, this German sergeant reached into his coat and pulled out an apple and gave it to the prisoner. The German said, ?Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday!?
The young soldier was very surprised. He hadn?t eaten an apple since he left the United States. That was a day that the soldier always remembered. Why? Because an enemy soldier had shown him love.
Our Bible Reading today tells about a man who helped his enemy. You can be like this man. Look for ways to show love to people you meet.
