Christmas Peace

I read a story about soldiers who were fighting in World War I in 1914. It was Christmas Eve. The weather was cold and damp.
The British soldiers looked across the area between them and the Germans. They were surprised to see the German soldiers lighting Christmas trees. Then the British soldiers heard the Germans singing ?Silent Night.?
The Germans called out, ?Come over here.? So some German and British officers met in the middle. Then the rest of the soldiers joined them. The men exchanged gifts of candy, tea, coffee and buttons. They shared family pictures and stories.
Finally the soldiers went back to their own sides. After Christmas, they started fighting again. But for a few minutes that Christmas Eve, they enjoyed a time of peace.
Our Bible Reading tells us that Jesus? peace lasts forever. Look for ways this Christmas to share this peace with others.
