Recently one of my relatives died. When that happened, I needed God’s comfort. Verse 4 of our Bible Reading became very important to me. This verse says, “Even if I walk through a valley as dark as the grave, I will not be afraid of any danger. Why? Because you are with me, Lord. Your rod and staff comfort me.” I think that there is no sadness like losing someone that you love. Besides sadness, there is a feeling of loneliness. Only God’s comfort can overcome these feelings.
Sometimes people become angry with God when a friend or relative dies. Then they try to ignore God. These people need to remember that God can change bad things into good things. They also need to remember that God loves them more than they can understand. Another verse that I love is 1 Peter 5:7, “Give all your worries to Him because He cares for you!” Instead of running away from God when I am sad, I need to turn to Him for comfort.
Maybe you feel sad today and need God’s comfort. Talk to God through prayer. Pay attention to His words in the Bible. And don’t forget that He loves you and cares about you.
