Consequences

When I was eight years old, I cut off my hair. Later I was very sorry , but I had to live with the consequences of my mistake. My hair finally grew back, but it took a long, long time!
Our Bible Reading tells us that before Samson was born, an angel told Samson’s mother that her son would “be dedicated to God in a special way” (Judges 13:5b) and that Samson must never cut his hair.
When Samson grew up, he was very strong. He killed many of God’s enemies. Then Samson fell in love with Delilah. She wanted Samson to tell her why he was so strong. Finally Samson told her that if she cut his hair, he would lose his strength. Delilah cut Samson’s hair, and he became weak. Israel’s enemies captured Samson and put him in prison. Samson was sorry that he had disobeyed God. But he still had to live with the consequences of his sin.
We, too, must face the earthly consequences of our sins. But we can praise God because He loves us and forgives our sins.
