Controlling Sin

I am a supervisor in a grocery store. One day my manager told me that some cashiers had complained about me. I felt angry and disappointed with this bad news. I wanted to do something back to the people who complained about me.
In our Bible Reading today, we read about Cain. He and his brother, Abel, offered gifts to God. God accepted Abel’s offering, but He did not accept Cain’s offering. Then Cain was angry and sad. God said to him, “If you do good things, you will be right with me. Then I will accept you. But if you do wrong things, then that sin is in your life. Your sin will want to control you, but you must control that sin” (verse 7).
But Cain did not control his sin. The next few verses tell us that Cain killed his brother. Cain let his sin control him. I do not want my sin to control me. So when I am angry or sad, I pray and ask God to help me control my sin.
Submit to God today and let Him help you stay away from sin.
