Conversions in Acts (2)

Our Bible Reading tells us that Peter boldly shared God’s Word. Verse 14b says, “Peter spoke loudly so that all the people could hear.”
Peter shared verses from the Old Testament. He told what the prophet Joel and King David said about Jesus. Peter also shared the Good News about Jesus’ death and resurrection.
How did the people respond to Peter’s message? They felt very, very sorry (verse 37a). The people also asked what they should do. Peter answered (verse 38), “Change your hearts and lives and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Then God will forgive your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
About 3000 people responded to Peter’s message that day. They changed their hearts (repented), and they were baptized. They received the Holy Spirit. They were added to the group of people who followed Jesus!
Do you follow Jesus? If not, I encourage you to repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will have new life in Christ and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
