Dad’s Devotions (2)

A friend told me that when he was young, his mother hung the clean laundry on a clothesline to dry. He and his brother played in the yard near the clothesline. Sometimes they would knock some of the laundry off the line, and it would become dirty again. When that happened, my friend’s mother would make him and his brother wash the clothes until they were clean again.
This story is like our Christian life. When we become a Christian, our sins are forgiven and we are clean. But soon we may sin and disobey God. The good news is that Jesus’ blood continues to forgive our sins and makes us clean.
In our Bible Reading today, John tells us that all we have to do is confess our sins and ask God to forgive us. “We can trust God to do this” (verse 9b).
Ask God to forgive your sins and depend on Him to help you grow closer to Him each day.
