Dad’s Devotions (7)

In verse 49 of our Bible Reading today, we read the first recorded words of Jesus. He was twelve years old and had just traveled with His family to Jerusalem for the Passover festival.
As Mary and Joseph traveled home from Jerusalem, they discovered that Jesus was not with them. They returned to Jerusalem and found Jesus in the temple. In verse 48b Mary said to Him, “Son, why did you do this to us?” Jesus answered, “You should have known that I must be where my Father’s work is” (verse 49b).
We should be like Jesus. We should want to be where God’s work is. God’s work is anywhere we can be doing good things for Him — sharing the Bible with someone, giving money to missionaries, helping orphans and widows or serving a meal to someone who is sick or hurt.
What can you do to be like Jesus today?
