Daniel and the Lions

Our Bible Reading tells us that King Darius chose Daniel to be one of his three supervisors. “Daniel proved himself to be a better supervisor than any of the others” (verse 3a). But the other supervisors were jealous, and they made a plan to get rid of Daniel.
These supervisors knew that Daniel prayed to God three times every day. So they encouraged the king to make a new law. This law said that anyone who prayed to any god or man except the king would be thrown into the lions’ den. The supervisors caught Daniel praying to God and threw him into the den of lions.
But God protected Daniel and kept him safe. Then the king told the people, “All of you must fear and respect the God of Daniel. Daniel’s God is the living God” (verse 26b). Even when Daniel was in danger, he trusted God to take care of him. God protected Daniel, and He will protect you today. Remember that God is always in control and knows what He is doing!
