Death

I saw a picture of a grave marker in Europe. It was a statue called “Death.” I thought that was a good grave marker. Why? Because when a Christian dies, only the body is buried. The Christian lives eternally with God. But “death” is dead.
In our Bible Reading today, Paul says that the last enemy to be destroyed is death (verse 26a). This will happen when Jesus comes back someday. Verse 23b says, “Then when Christ comes again, the people who belong to Christ will be raised to life.”
Eternal life with God will be wonderful. Revelation 21:4 tells us about heaven. “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, sadness, crying, or pain. All the old ways are gone.” It will be great to live without pain or sadness.
We should remember these verses when a Christian brother or sister dies. Then we can say, “They are alive with Jesus. Death is dead!”
