Our Bible Reading today is about a woman who was not a Jew. This woman’s daughter had an evil spirit living in her. The woman asked Jesus to heal her daughter. But Jesus reminded the woman that He came to earth to serve the Jews. Jesus said in verse 24b, “God sent me only to the lost people of Israel (the Jews).”
The woman continued to ask Jesus to heal her daughter. Finally, Jesus healed the woman’s daughter. Verse 28 says, “Then Jesus answered, ‘Woman, you have great faith! I will do the thing you wanted me to do.’ And at that time the woman’s daughter was healed.”
I can imagine that the Jewish people who were with Jesus that day were shocked! Probably they couldn’t believe that Jesus was helping someone who was not a Jew – someone who was different than they were.
How do you feel when someone different from you comes into your church building? Maybe that person is a different color or speaks a different language. I hope you love that person and help them like Jesus did.
