Fight or Run Away

Scientists tell us that when people or animals are stressed or overwhelmed, they will fight or run away.
But the Bible gives Christians two more choices when they are facing problems. The first choice is in Philippians 4:6: “Don’t worry about anything. But pray and ask God for everything you need. And when you pray, always give thanks.” When we are overwhelmed, we can ask God to help us. He is always willing to pay attention to our prayers.
The second choice for Christians is to find comfort and encouragement from other Christians. In the church we can find people who will support us and pay attention to our problems. That’s what Paul was talking about in our Bible Reading. Philemon was a person who loved and helped other Christians.
When people in the world face problems, they become upset or they run away and refuse to face the problem. If you are in Christ, you can depend on God and other Christians to strengthen and help you through your problems.
