Forgiveness

Our Bible Reading today is about a servant who owed a king a lot of money. But the servant could not pay the money to the king. So the king planned to sell the servant?s wife, his children, and all his possessions.
The servant begged the king to forgive his debt. The servant said, ?Be patient with me. I will pay you everything I owe? (verse 26b). The king felt sorry for the servant. He told the servant that he did not have to pay his debt.
Later, that same servant found another man who owed him a small amount of money. The servant told the man to pay him the money. The man asked the servant to be patient with him. But the servant refused, and he put the man in jail. When the king learned about this, he was very angry. Then ?he put the servant in prison to be punished…until he could pay everything he owed? (verse 34b).
These verses are a good lesson for us today. ?This king did the same as my heavenly Father will do to you. You must truly forgive your brother or sister, or my heavenly Father will not forgive you? (verse 35).
