A loving husband gave his wife a small box wrapped in brown paper. Inside the tiny box was a beautiful ring set with diamonds, rubies and emeralds. It was a wonderful gift, even though it was small.
Jesus sat in the Temple and watched people put their money into the collection box. Many rich people came and gave a lot of money. Then a poor widow came. She put in two copper coins that were worth less than a penny.
In Mark 12:43-44, Jesus taught His followers about the importance of the widow’s gift. “Jesus called his followers to him and said, ‘‘This poor widow put in only two small coins. But the truth is, she gave more than all those rich people. They have plenty, and they gave only what they did not need. This woman is very poor, but she gave all she had. It was money she needed to live on.’”
God wants us to generously give Him our time, our talents and our money. Even though our gift might be small, He will be pleased when we give with a sincere and thankful heart.
I hope you will honor God with your time, your talents and your money today!
