A year ago, hurricane Katrina hit the United States. Many people died. Homes were destroyed and people left homeless. This hurricane caused billions of dollars of damage.
Many people came to help clean and rebuild. Some people brought food, water and medical supplies. Schools collected toys to share with children who had lost their own toys. People gave money so organizations could go to these areas and help.
In our Bible Reading today, Jesus taught about giving. He said in verse 1, “Be careful! When you do good things, don’t do those things in front of people. Don’t do those things for people to see you. If you do that, then you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.”
We should give because we love God and want to help people. We should not give because we want other people to think we are important. Maybe you gave money or things to help the hurricane victims. I hope that you gave in a way that pleased God.
