Goals in Life (5)

Every year the town where I live has a huge garage sale. Many people take part in this sale. Some people only have worthless things to sell. After going to the garage sale for a few years, it is easy to learn who has useful things for sale and who has junk.
Verses 37 and 38 of our Bible Reading talk about worthless things. “Don’t let me look at worthless things. Help me to live your way. Do what you promised me, your servant, so that people will respect you.” Many things people do in life help them make lots of money. But a person who serves God thinks that doing these things is not important. Making lots of money does not help us become closer to God.
We should not want God’s blessings so that other people will pay attention to us. We should want God’s blessings so that other people will respect God and learn that He loves them. Christians should not waste their time collecting worthless things. Instead, they should be doing things that will bring them closer to God.
