Goals in Life (5)

Every year the town where I live has a huge garage sale. Many people take part in this sale. Some people have only junk items (worthless things) for sale. After going to the garage sale for a few years, it is easy to learn who has useful things for sale and who has junk.
Verses 37 and 38 of our Bible Reading talk about worthless things. “Lord, don’t let me look at worthless things. Help me live your way. Do what you promised for your servant so that people will respect you.” Many things people do in life help them to make lots of money. But a person who serves God thinks that doing these things is a waste of time. Making money does not help us become closer to God.
We should not want God’s blessings so that other people pay attention to us. We should want God’s blessings so that other people will respect God and learn that He loves them.
Christians should not waste their time collecting worthless things. Instead, they should be doing things that will bring them closer to God.
