God is With You

Ruth was a very loving daughter-in-law. Even though Ruth was a widow (a woman whose husband had died), she took care of her mother-in-law, Naomi. Ruth left her country of Moab and traveled with Naomi to Bethlehem. It must have been hard for Ruth to leave her home. Ruth also left behind the false gods she worshiped. Probably Ruth did not understand much about the one true God. But she decided to trust the God that Naomi worshiped.
Our Bible Reading today tells us how Ruth gathered food from the fields. She worked hard to take care of Naomi and herself. And God was always with Ruth and Naomi. God provided a husband for Ruth, too. Years later, King David was born from Ruth’s family line.
Maybe you are like Ruth. Maybe your wife or husband has died. Or, maybe you lost your job or you have been forced to move to a strange place. God was with Ruth and Naomi. He will always be with you, too.
