God’s Children

In our verses today, Paul reminds us that we are God’s children. We became His children through Jesus. Paul explains, “But when the right time came, God sent his Son, who was born from a woman and lived under the law” (verse 4).
Jesus lived on earth just like every other person. But then He died and rose again. Through Jesus’ death, we are made free from our sins. Why did God do this? “God’s purpose was to make us his children” (verse 5b).
Our relationship with God is very close and personal. Paul says in verse 6, “Since you are now God’s children, he has sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts. The Spirit cries out, ‘Abba, Father.’” This name for God was a word Jewish children used for their fathers. It’s like calling God, “Papa” or “Daddy.”
We can be happy because God is our Father. He gives us blessings and always takes care of us. Thank God today that you are one of His children.
