God’s Comfort

When I was young, I had nightmares. I would call for my mother. She would always come right away and comfort me. Then my mom would tell me that everything would be okay.
I needed my mother to remind me that it was just a dream and that I was safe. Then I was able to go back to sleep. I don’t have nightmares any more, but sometimes my worries keep me awake at night. I don’t rely on my mom anymore. Now I depend on God to comfort me.
In our Bible verses today, we learn that Joshua was facing a scary situation. God had chosen him to lead the Israelites into the new land that God was giving to them. But in verse 9, God comforted Joshua with these words: “Remember I commanded you to be strong and brave. So don’t be scared, because the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
God is with us all the time. He is with us when we are happy and when we are worried. God will help us know that everything will be okay.
