God’s Pardon

Sometimes we read in the newspaper or see on the news that someone has been pardoned. A pardon is forgiveness for a crime and the punishment that was given for the crime.
A person who is pardoned has been judged guilty and sent to prison. Then later a government official, like a governor or president, gives the prisoner a pardon. Then that person is free to leave prison and go back to his home.
Our Bible verses today tell us that all “people have sinned and are not good enough for God’s glory” (verse 23). We have been judged guilty because of our sins. But verse 24 says, “People are made right with God by his grace (kindness). This is a free gift. People are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ.”
When we believe and follow Jesus as our Savior, God gives us a pardon. Why? Because Jesus accepted our punishment when He died on the cross. Praise God for His wonderful love and forgiveness!
