God’s People

Several years ago, I met a woman who was a new Christian. She was so happy to be part of our church. She quickly became involved in several church activities. This woman became my good friend. We enjoyed many hours of fellowship together.
But recently that woman started staying away from church activities. My friends and I tried to encourage her to return to church, but she refused. Now when I call her on the phone, she will not talk to me. It is so sad that this woman has turned away from God. I pray for her every day. I hope that someday she will decide to follow Jesus again.
In our Bible Reading today, Jesus told a story about seeds. Some of the seeds fell on rocky ground (verse 5). These seeds quickly grew into plants. But soon these plants died because they did not have strong roots. These plants are like my friend.
We need to be sure that we are like a plant with strong roots. We can have strong roots by studying the Bible and fellowshiping with other Christians. Then when problems happen, we will not give up.
