During the past four months, we have studied verses from Genesis. We learned how Adam and Eve disobeyed God and sinned. Adam and Eve had children and grandchildren. Soon there were many people in the world. But these people became wicked, so God decided to destroy the world by a flood. Only Noah, his family and some animals were saved.
After the flood, people began to fill the earth again. Then God called Abraham to move to the land of Canaan. Abraham’s son, Isaac, had twin boys, Jacob and Esau. Later Jacob had twelve sons. At the end of Genesis, all of Jacob’s family members are in Egypt. Genesis 50:22 tells us what happened to Jacob’s son, Joseph. “Joseph continued to live in Egypt with his father’s family. He died when he was 110 years old.”
The book of Genesis shows us God’s plan for His people, the Israelites. Over the next four months, we will continue our study through the Bible. We will learn that many years after Joseph died, the Israelites began a long journey to return to Canaan. Sometimes they did not obey God, but He was always with them.
God wants you to love Him and obey His Word today. He will be with you, too!
