God’s Time

My forty-seven-year-old son-in-law was waiting for a heart transplant. Only a new heart would save his life. We knew that God was paying attention to our prayers, but we started to be impatient. We wanted God to do something now!
That situation reminds me of Martha in our Bible Reading today. Her brother, Lazarus, was very ill. Martha sent for Jesus. She probably hoped that Jesus would come and heal Lazarus. But Jesus did not come, and Lazarus died.
A few days later, Jesus came, and He made Lazarus alive again! Martha thought that Jesus was late, but He helped Lazarus in His own time. When Jesus prayed to God, He said, “I want them to believe that you sent me” (verse 42b).
God’s time is not always the same as our time. Sometimes all we need to do is wait. God will answer your prayers in the way that is best for you and His kingdom. Trust Him today.
