Imagine that I steal something from someone. Then I am sorry that I stole. I can give the person back what I took. But if I gossip about someone, I steal their good reputation. I can never give that back.
I knew an elderly woman who called herself a Christian. She was very upset when other people used bad words. But this woman gossiped about people all the time. She didn?t have any friends because she always said bad things about the people she knew.
When we want to say/sign something about another person, we should first ask ourselves three questions: Is it true? Is is necessary? Is it kind? If I can answer ?no? to one or more of these questions, then I should not say/sign it.
In our Bible Reading, James reminds us that Christians should not say/sign both praises and curses (verse 10). Be careful what you say and sign today.
