Christians should be careful that the things they say about other people are helpful, kind and true. But sometimes we talk about other people in a bad way. This is called gossip.
Verse 13 of our Bible Reading says, “Any person who tells secrets about other people can’t be trusted. But a person that can be trusted does not spread gossip.” We should be careful not to spread gossip.
One way that we can stop gossiping is to avoid people who gossip. Proverbs 20:19 tells us, “A person who tells gossip about other people can’t be trusted. So don’t be friends with a person who talks too much.”
Another way to avoid gossip is to think before we speak/sign. We should choose our words and signs very carefully. We should follow Paul’s advice in Philippians 4:8a. “…continue to think about the things that are good and worthy of praise.”
I hope you will be careful about the things you say/sign today. Make sure that your communication is pleasing to God.
