We all have habits — things that we do over and over again. But maybe before you became a Christian, many of your habits were bad.
Verses 8 and 9 of our Bible Reading tell us, “But now put these things out of your life: anger, being very mad, doing or saying things to hurt other people, and using evil words when you talk. Don’t lie to each other. Why? Because you have left your old sinful life and the things you did before.”
It is important for us to put bad habits out of our lives. Our habits control us. And we should not be controlled by anything that makes God unhappy. Instead, we should develop good habits. Verses 12-16 tell us things that make God happy: showing mercy to others; being kind, humble, gentle and patient; not being angry; being loving, forgiving and thankful; and letting Jesus control our thinking.
Think about your habits today. I hope that they make God happy.
