When I was young, my mother and grandmother took me to a hill in the country. We called this “Flower Hill” because of the many wildflowers that grew there. We were always excited to see the first wildflowers that bloomed in the spring. My mother and grandmother taught me the names of each flower. It was sad that these flowers only lasted a short time.
In our Bible Reading today, Peter quoted from Isaiah, chapter 40. These verses remind us that all things on earth are temporary, but God’s Word lasts forever. “Our lives are like the grass of spring, and any glory we enjoy is like the beauty of a wildflower. The grass dries up and dies, and the flower falls to the ground. But the word of the Lord lasts forever” (verses 24b-25a).
God’s Word, the Bible, is our guide in life. Its words will never become old-fashioned. Read and study God’s Word to help you live for Him each day.
