Holy Tent (4)

Another piece of furniture in the courtyard of the Holy Tent was the washing bowl. This was the place where the Israelite priests washed their hands and feet. Exodus 30:20 tells us about this. “Every time they enter the Meeting Tent, they must wash with that water so that they will not die. They must also wash every time they come near the altar to burn incense or to offer gifts to the Lord.”

The washing bowl was made of bronze and covered with bronze mirrors. Perhaps the priests used these mirrors to make sure they were clean. The washing bowl was placed between the altar of burnt offerings and the entrance to the Holy Place.

The Israelite priests needed to have their bodies clean when they came before God. In the same way, we need to be clean before we can be close to God. Being clean before God means having our sins forgiven. The only way to have our sins forgiven is through Jesus. When our sins are forgiven, we can have a right relationship with God.

Thank God today for His plan of salvation and forgiveness through His Son, Jesus.
