Holy Tent (5)

The first item of furniture in the Holy Place was the lampstand. It was made from 75 pounds of gold and provided light for the Holy Place. The lampstand was decorated with almond buds and petals.
Sometimes people call this lampstand a golden candlestick. But really the lampstand held seven oil lamps. Olive oil was burned in these lamps. It was the duty of the priests to trim the wicks in the lamps, fill them with oil and keep them lit at all times.
Light is mentioned many times in the New Testament, too. In John 8:12 Jesus called Himself “the light of the world.” And in Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus said that Christians should be “light” in the dark world of sin.
I hope that you will be a light for other people today. Show them God’s love and goodness.
